How Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement Works, Step by Step
Step 1: Locate and Inspect
We run a camera through the line and mark where it starts and ends above ground. We also call in a utility locate so we know where gas, water, and electric lines sit.
Step 2: Dig Two Small Pits
One pit goes near the house, usually where the line leaves the foundation. The second goes near the street connection or property line. Each pit is only big enough for the equipment and a worker.
Step 3: Burst the Old Pipe, Pull the New One
A steel cable runs through the old pipe. The bursting head attaches to the cable at one pit with the new HDPE pipe behind it. A hydraulic puller draws the head through the line. The head breaks the old pipe outward into the soil, and the new pipe fills the space.
Step 4: Connect, Test, and Backfill
